Ths morning, Michelle, Ted, and I attended a breakfast reception hosted by the Dan Marino Foundation, and Mr. Marino himself, at their beautiful campus in Downtown Fort Lauderdale to sponsor Compliance with Section 503 of the US Labor Law. In attendance were Human Resource Directors from banks and law firms, representatives from military defense contractors, and several other types of companies interested in recruiting employees with disabilities.
We were not there to learn about this program, we were there as a testimony to how amazing it is. Michelle and I reached out to the Dan Marino Foundation in October, to inquire about becoming involved in a mentor program there. Well, one thing led to another and we now gainfully employ one of their vocational students, Fidel. He is such an inspiring testament to their program and it was important that we shared our experiences with others wishing to follow in our footsteps.
All-in-all, it was a great seminar and a lot if not all of the potential recruiters there were very optimistic about participating in the program and I'm so honored that Michelle and I were able to speak to our experiences in order to help progress the message of how both important and rewarding it is to employ someone with developmental disabilities.
