Canadians have rallied together in support of mental health issues by spreading the word about Bell Canada's fourth annual "Let's Talk" day. Bell Canada announced that for every tweet with the hashtag #BellLetsTalk and Facebook share with the Bell "Let's Talk" image, they will donate five cents to mental health initiatives. By 12pm today, social media sites were flooded with 20 million tweets and Facebook shares from everyday Canadians as well as politicians and celebrities, all in support of the cause. Bell has also issued that 5 cents for every text message and phone call will also be contributed to the cause, encouraging a mass amount of support from Canadians joining the conversation on depression and mental health. Spokesperson, Olympic athlete Clara Hughes, says that sharing her story about her battle with depression generated more public response than her six Olympic medals from both the winter and summer games. She is proud of the outcry of support from Canadians and hopes that her story will continue to raise awareness about mental health.
