Rising rents and strong demand have developers setting their sights on downtown Fort Lauderdale's riverfront, and the planned new luxury developments prove it.

Premier Developers, for the first time since building La Rive in downtown in 2005, have plans to demolish the old Sunrise Hall East motel and replace it with a 100-unit condo development. The project is boasting a private pontoon water taxi, dock, and boat slips.

The New River Yacht Club, located at 400 SW 1st Ave, which was vacant before Related started its $75 million development in 2012, is scheduled to be completed in July and will help finish the construction on the south side of the Riverwalk. A mixed-use complex with residences, retail, restaurants and marina is also in the works through Miami-based Cymbal Development.
